The Queen Story

Julia (166c AD – 217 AD) was born in the ancient city of Emesa (Modern city of Homs central Syria). Her ancestors were Kings/Priest of the famous temple of Baal. In the Roman era the family had an enormous wealth and was promoted to Roman senatorial aristocracy. She was the youngest daughter of high-priest Gaius Julius Bassianus and her eldest sister Julia Maesa also became empress of Rome.
In the late 180s, Julia married future Emperor Septimius Severus. The marriage proved to be a happy one and Severus cherished his wife and her political opinions, since she was very well read and keen on philosophy. Together, they had two sons, the future emperors Lucius Septimius Bassianus (Caracalla) in 186 and Publius Septimius Geta in 189.
In the Roman civil war (193 AD), Julia accompanied her husband in his campaigns in the East, an uncommon event in a time when women were expected to wait in Rome for their husbands. And became an empress in her own right and co-ruler not just a queen consort, She was the first roman woman to have the honor of minting coins with her portrait on it, and have titles such as: mater castrorum (mother of the camp), Augusta, and the most famous of them was Dumna (alt spelling Domna) which mean the great lady.
After her husband emperor Severus died, in 211 AD, Julia Dumna remained the power behind the throne in the reign of her two sons. Emperors Caracalla and Geta.
Julia Dumna died in 217 AD she was buried first in the Mausoleum of Augustus, and later her remains removed to Mausoleum of Hadrian (Castel Sant'Angelo) in Rome
Julia Dumna was deified by the Roman senate and proclaimed goddess.
Julia Dumna brought a message with her to Rome and the empire: tolerance, respect and co-existence and introduces the eastern culture, philosophy and thoughts to the classical western Roman cultural, starting a new era of cultural and spiritual revive the crossed over all the ancient world.
